The park has recently undergone a harvest of ash trees to proactively manage for visitor safety due to the effects of Emerald ash borer (EAB). In the short-term, the removal of ash trees has led to a visual change in the forested areas of this park. Over the next few years, new trees will sprout, targeted plantings will occur, and existing trees will expand their canopies to fill in the gaps.
