About this directory
US State Parks is an independent directory of 3,939 units in the 50 state park systems: parks, recreation areas, historic sites, natural areas, beaches and trails. It exists because the information you need before a trip — is it open, what does it cost, can I bring the dog, do I need a reservation — is spread across 50 different official websites, each organized differently.
Each park page brings together what that park’s official source says, in the same layout everywhere, and shows where each fact came from and when it was last checked. Software re-reads the official sources on a schedule and updates the pages when something changes.
What we are not
- We are not a state agency and are not affiliated with any state park system.
- We don’t take bookings and don’t show live campsite availability. We link to the official reservation system.
- We haven’t visited these parks. There are no reviews, ratings or first-hand claims here. Summaries are written from official facts.
- We don’t rank parks. Lists are sorted by name or distance.
Accuracy
Where the official source doesn’t say something, we say it isn’t stated rather than guess. When a check fails or a change looks suspicious, we keep the last verified information and flag it for review. Still, parks change things quickly — always confirm with the park before you go. The methodology page explains sources, schedules and how conflicts are resolved, and the data status page shows how fresh each state’s data is right now.
