Swimming
Cool off in our historic swimming pool, built in the early 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Or swim in the lake, at your own risk. Read our swimming safety tips before you visit.
Boating and paddling
Rent a canoe or kayak at a vending machine near the lake. Lake Abilene is a no-wake lake, and boat motors may not exceed idle speed. Review our water safety tips before you head out.
Fishing
Drop a line in Lake Abilene or Buffalo Wallow Pond. The pond is a favorite spot for kids of all ages. Remember, you do not need a license to fish from shore in a state park. Ask at headquarters about borrowing fishing tackle to use in the park.
A state fishing license is usually required.
