The Outpost Cabins
Experience a new kind of camping adventure at the Outpost. Nestled in the heart of Lake of the Ozarks State Park, the Outpost offers eight rustic log cabins for campers who want to experience the outdoors without pitching a tent.
Developed in 1993 and upgraded in 2011, each cabin features tables and chairs, a wood-burning stove, electricity, a ceiling fan and light, air conditioning, supplemental heating, a dorm-size refrigerator, a microwave, and sleeping accommodations for six people. Infants and children count as occupants. These accommodations include two three-quarter-size beds (sized in between a twin and a full) in the loft and one double futon bed downstairs. Tents and other alternate lodging accommodations are not allowed in the rental area.

To prepare for your experience, bring your camping gear such as sleeping bags, pillows, cooking and eating utensils, water containers, and additional light sources such as lanterns. The rustic cabins do not have running water, so plan accordingly. Cooking and smoking are not allowed inside the cabins. As part of the Cabins for Canines Program, guests renting Outpost Cabin 2, 4 or 7 will be allowed to bring up to two dogs. Detailed information on associated fees and rules can be found through the "Cabins for Canines" link on the right. Pets are not allowed in Outpost cabins 1, 3, 5, 6 or 8.
Outside, each cabin has tables and benches, and a fire grill for barbecuing or campfires. Located within walking distance of the cabins is a modern central restroom and showerhouse, drinking water and a central parking area. Some complimentary firewood is included with rental (September through March); additional wood is available for purchase. Cleanup and trash removal is the responsibility of the lodging guest and should be completed before checkout.
These rustic cabins, surrounded by an oak-hickory forest, offer visitors a chance to watch wildlife from their front porch. A hiking trail encircles the cabins.
Cabins in the Outpost can be rented year-round. The weeknight rate (Sunday* through Thursday) is $50 plus tax and the weekend rate is $55 plus tax. These rates are for one to six occupants. *The Sundays of Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends are subject to the weekend rate. If Independence Day falls on a Friday or Saturday, that Sunday will be subject to the weekend rate also. Full payment for your stay is due at the time you make the reservation. No same-day registration is allowed for any lodging unit; advance reservations are required.
Please visit the Centralized Reservation System for Lodging page for other important policy information before making your reservation. When a reservation is made, a four-digit code is provided on the self-check-in email received on the day of your arrival that will give you access to the key to your cabin. You can also contact the call center at 1-877-422-6766 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and no earlier than four days before arrival to obtain the code.
Cabin 8 is accessible to people with disabilities.
Yurts
Lake of the Ozarks State Park offers an alternate camping experience with its yurts. A yurt is a circular structure with a fabric cover, much like a tent, and a wooden frame making it strong and weathertight. It sits on a wooden platform with decking and has a locking door. There are three large windows and a dome skylight to enjoy the view.
The yurts are located in sections 1 and 2 of the campground and feature a futon, a bunk bed, a dorm-size refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee table, an air conditioner and a heater. The units sleep five with a maximum occupancy of six. Tents or other alternate lodging accommodations are not allowed in the rental areas.
To prepare for your experience, bring your camping gear such as lanterns, cooking and eating utensils and water containers. The yurts do not have running water, so plan accordingly. Guests must bring their own linens and sleeping bags. Open-flame cooking is not allowed in the units. Cooking with griddles, Crock-Pots and other non-flame cooking devices is allowed. Smoking is not allowed inside the units. As part of the Cabins for Canines Program, guests renting Yurt A or B will be allowed to bring up to two dogs. Detailed information on associated fees and rules can be found through the "Cabins for Canines" link in the upper right of this page. Cleanup and trash removal is the responsibility of the lodging guest and should be completed before checkout.
Outside the units are a picnic table, fire ring and grill for barbecuing or campfires. A modern central restroom and showerhouse, located within walking distance, is available during the camping on-season (April 1 to Oct. 31). During the camping off-season, a vault toilet is available and water is available near the campground check station.
The yurts are available for rent year-round. Yurts A and B are accessible for people with disabilities. The weeknight rate (Sunday* through Thursday) is $50 plus tax and the weekend rate is $55 plus tax. These rates are for one to six occupants (four adults and two youth). *The Sunday of Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends is subject to the weekend rate. If Independence Day falls on a Friday or Saturday, that Sunday will be subject to the weekend rate also. Full payment for your stay will be due at the time you make the reservation. No same-day registration is allowed for any lodging unit; advance reservations are required

Accessibility
Birding
Visitors of all abilities can enjoy birding along Fawns Ridge Trail. This trail has information and signage, rest areas, mostly manageable surfaces, and many other ADA considerations.
To find additional locations that are accessible, visit Birdability to view their accessible birding trails maps.
Park Office
The park office is an example of the 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps craftsmanship seen throughout this park. The accessible parking and paved pathway is connected to the entrance by a boardwalk, with a wooden deck covering the original flagstone porch for its protection and to provide a smooth transition between levels.
Inside, you will find an abundance of park information and helpful park staff.

Horse Stable
Although parking is available, this area has not been modified except for an accessible vault toilet.
Highway 134 Picnic Area
This lightly wooded picnic area has a 1930s restroom that has been modified for the use of all visitors.
Just down the concrete pathway, past the accessible drinking fountain, playground and horseshoe pit, is a historic rock shelter with a flagstone floor. The shelter accommodates 100 people and has electricity, extended-end tables, a group grill and a fireplace. The group grill and electrical outlet may not be accessible to some users. Two picnic sites in this area are available with concrete pathways, pedestal grills and extended-end tables.
Accessible parking is provided.
Campgrounds
As you enter the campground, you'll see a woodlot/laundry on your right. Accessible parking spaces are offered; however, some visitors may need assistance. The check station has car-side convenience or you can pull in to an accessible space to access the information kiosk located here. Just beyond the kiosk, on the opposite side of the road, is the accessible dump station. As you pull past the check station, there is access to a potable water hydrant. Ten updated campsites are scattered through this wooded area with accessible showerhouses within driving distance. Water hydrants with concrete pathways have been provided in convenient locations. Two vault toilets, one in Campground 1 and one in Campground 4, are also available for all users and are open year-round. Both playgrounds in the campground have been updated to provide greater access to all users.
The amphitheater is located midway through the campground and offers an accessible parking space and an accessible trail to the seating area. Some users may need assistance to access the amphitheater.
Public Boat Launch-Main Park Side
Boat launch area amenities include a courtesy dock, a concession operation offering boat fuel, rentals, snacks and bait, and an accessible vault toilet. Accessible parking is available for the concession and the toilet. The launch itself is at a 9.5% slope and the trailer parking is located on a hillside with an average 4% slope.
Two accessible shaded picnic sites with paved pathways overlook the lake and beach.
Public Beach #1
The CCC originally built this beach area back in the 1930s, as can be seen in the architecture of the change house and the old boathouse. Although updates have been made to the change house, some users may need assistance, as the original stone floors and steps still exist. The picnic sites are located on a lightly wooded hillside overlooking the beach and lake. The playground in this area has not been modified.
Accessible entry to picnic sites and the beach is from the vault toilet parking area at the boat launch along a paved pathway. Entry is to the sand area only.
The Outpost Camper Cabins
This unique approach to rental cabins has become quite popular, and we invite you to see why. In a clearing of the woods is a modern central showerhouse. Pathways lead off into the woods to rustic, yet modern cabins that sleep six. These cabins do not have water but do have electricity, a small refrigerator and microwave, supplemental heat, a small woodstove, air conditioning, a futon bed, sleeping loft with two beds, and a porch overlooking the serenity of the woods. Outside each cabin is a picnic table and fire grill. One cabin has level parking, an accessible pathway and entry ramp for those with mobility impairments.
Group Camps
Lake of the Ozarks State Park has four group camps.
- Camp Rising Sun has accessible restrooms and showers in most cabins. The dining hall, recreation hall and amphitheater are connected to the cabins and playcourt by paved pathways. Parking is gravel. Users may drive to the beach, which is mixed gravel. The vault toilet at the beach is up a rise and some users may need assistance.
- Camp Clover Point has been modified to provide access to all users. Paved pathways allow for circulation between all buildings and amenities. The dining hall and recreation hall have boardwalk entrances to achieve a smooth transition between levels. Two barracks have modified bathrooms. Other accessible restrooms can be found in the recreation hall and the craft hall. Some visitors may need assistance when using the beach area, which has not been modified.
- Pin Oak Facility is located on a narrow ridge and has not been modified except for access to the dining lodge and one of the newly remodeled cabins.
- Camp Red Bud has not been modified.
Grand Glaize Area
Beach Area
The beach house, with accessible change rooms and restrooms, is served by an asphalt parking lot with four accessible spaces. Paved pathways lead from the parking, through the beach house and down to the sand. A shady sitting area is provided. Scenic paved pathways branch out from this area, leading to a picnic area and the marina area.
Marina Area
The marina store provides such amenities as accessible parking, paved pathways, accessible restrooms, groceries, supplies, gas and rentals. Five boat slips outfitted with handholds are offered for those with mobility impairments. You can enjoy lunch overlooking the lake on the deck.
Boat Launch
The paved boat launch has an average 7.7% slope with an adjacent courtesy dock. Pathways to the courtesy dock have not been modified. The launch is served by four accessible trailer parking spaces. An accessible restroom nearby has designated parking spaces, a water fountain and paved pathways for your convenience.
Lower Day-Use Area
This lightly wooded picnic area has a view of the beach and is connected to the beach area by a picturesque bridge and pathway. All picnic sites have paved pathways, hard surfaces and pedestal grills. Three sites have extended-end tables. Further amenities in this area are an accessible playground, vault toilet and a water fountain. Three asphalt accessible parking spaces are offered.
Upper Day-Use Area
A 1930s shelter peers out over the lake from its woodsy hilltop location above the lower day-use area. The shelter is equipped with paved pathways, extended-end tables, a group grill and a water fountain. It can accommodate 100 people. Two paved accessible parking spaces are offered. An accessible vault toilet and two picnic sites are nearby.
Pa He Tsi Boat Ramp
The ramp is paved and has a slope of 8.3%. The courtesy dock has not been modified. All parking in this sunny area is level and of compacted gravel. Three accessible spaces adjacent to the accessible restroom are offered for your convenience.
Ozark Caverns
Visitor Center
This rustic, yet modern building is the center for cave tours, audio/visual presentations, interpretive programs and park literature. A paved pathway runs from the level parking lot with an accessible space to the entrance. Inside, you'll find helpful staff, exhibits of local wildlife, an accessible water fountain and restroom and a waiting room for the cave tours.
An accessible picnic table is located just outside the visitor center. A boardwalk extends across the fen from the visitor center to the cave opening. The regular tour is one-half mile long on mostly hard-packed substrate. Travel is mostly level with the exception of two 10-to-12-foot sections with an 8% slope. Periodically, heavy rains will cause gravel to wash across the trail. Some visitors may need assistance.
